CA ARCserve Backup
Arcserve Backup R16 is a comprehensive storage solution for applications, databases, distributed servers, and file systems. It provides backup and restore capabilities for databases, business-critical applications, and network clients.
Protects an unlimited number of supported Windows guest Virtual Machines on a per-Host basis.
Includes:
- Unlimited* Distribution of CA ARCserve Backup r16 Guest Based VM Agent Bundle, which consists of CA ARCserve Backup r16 Agent for Virtual Machines and CA ARCserve Backup r16 Agent for Open Files for Virtual Machines
- Ability to protect unlimited Guest VMs per-Host Server
- Packaged per-host platform (Hyper-V / VMware / Citrix) *Unlimited agents restricted to use on one physical host server only per license. License not transferrable to multiple host servers. CA ARCserve Backup and Application Agents sold separately
Among the agents CA ARCserve Backup offers is the CA ARCserve Backup Agent for Virtual Machines. The agent lets you protect virtual machines (VMs) running the following systems:
- VMware ESX/ESXi Server and VMware vCenter Server--VMware provides you with mechanisms called VMware Consolidated Backup (VCB) and Virtual Disk Development Kit (VDDK) that integrate with VMware ESX/ESXi Server and VMware vCenter Server. VCB and VDDK let you protect Virtual Machine (VM) files and data. Using VCB or VDDK you can offload VM backup activity to a dedicated backup proxy system, and then use the backup and restore functionalities provided by CA ARCserve Backup to protect the VMs.
- VMware vSphere--VMware vSphere is a virtualization tool kit that lets you integrate the latest versions of VMware vCenter Server, VMware VCB, and VMware VDDK with CA ARCserve Backup
- Microsoft Hyper-V--Microsoft Hyper-V is a component that is included with Windows Server 2008 operating systems. Hyper-V is hypervisor-based technology that lets you run multiple operating systems independently within the Windows Server 2008 system. CA ARCserve Backup lets you back up and restore data contained within the guest operating systems and Windows Server 2008 operating systems.
Value Maintenance
The license holder is entitled to 1 year upgrade protection and 9-5 telephone support during the maintenance period
Per-Host licenses
As the name suggests, it is licensed per Hypervisor host and can be purchased when there are many Virtual Machines on a single HOST server (Hyper-V / VMware / Citrix XenServer) that require protection. These licenses cannot be shared between multiple HOST Servers. One copy of CA ARCserve Backup r16 for Windows VM Agent per Host License includes unlimited* Distribution of CA ARCserve Backup r16 Guest Based VM Agent Bundle, which consists of CA ARCserve Backup r16 Agent for Virtual Machines and CA ARCserve Backup r16 Agent for Open Files for Virtual Machines. Customers can protect unlimited* Guest VMs per-Host Server. Guest based VM licenses included as part of the per-host license cannot be shared between multiple HOST Servers. Per-host license does not include CA ARCserve Backup server or other agents/options like CA Application Agents (Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, and AD), Options (Enterprise Module, Tape Library Option, SAN Option, etc.). Customers should purchase them separately.
