I hired a new accountant who deleted some entries in my accounting
software, and threw everything off for the last three years. Luckily I had
the "virtualTapedrive Backup' software installed on that computer. I was
able to keep going back a week at a time and restoring my database until
the problem was found. I had to rebuild 4 months worth of accounting
instead of 3 years thanks to Data System Development.

"We put our entire office on the virtualTapedrive service in early
September. The first thing that we did after loading it up on our server
was to archive 80,000 historical files. Next we setup a routine backup on
13,000 server files. It took us less than an hour to load the software up
on each computer and setup a quick routine backup.
For the next several months we would receive daily e-mails summarizing our
storage operations. We could even tell when a computer was shutdown at
night since it would have failed to perform its scheduled backup.
One Sunday, right after the first of the year at the start of tax season,
my server went down and wouldn’t come up. I didn’t feel panicked, but I
did call Data Systems to make sure that they had my files; they did. Their
support technician was able to help our guy fix the raid array and get the
server back up without the need for restoring the files. That was a lucky
break, but its too risky to rely on luck. That’s where the
virtualTapedrive comes in."
